Iowa winter is getting ready to teach us a lesson

As I was driving home this morning after dropping the kiddo off at school, I witnessed a fairly common occurence in Iowa on a snowy day : an idiot thinking she can drive her usual speed on a snowpacked road and ending her morning commute in a ditch. I'm usually not lucky enough to witness the event as it happens, most times I see the SUV and exotic import graveyards littering the roadways at the end of the day, red tags waving from the antaneae (yes, I know that is spelled wrong but I'm lazy). This day I was fortunate enough to watch the drama unfurl, the tailgating and hardbraking and quick slide off the road. She wasn't hurt, I could see that, and someone behind me was slowing down (I'm assuming to make sure she had a cell phone, hopefully not to kidnap her). I kept on driving, smug in my superior driving skills (pretty damned good for a New Mexico native) and the hope that she learned a lesson. This song is for you, fast -Camry-driving, cell -phone -talking, in- a -hurry , deserving-to-be-off-the-road soccer mom. Hope you made it home safely.
